“Equity exists in our schools when all educators, students, and families, regardless of race, class, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and other identifiers, have unimpeded access to inclusive learning and working environments characterized by high quality instruction, rich systems of support, robust information, and differentiated opportunities that contribute to their personal growth and academic success.”

While not promising placement in a leadership position upon completion, the EPL program does provide a year-long, structured route to open doors to leadership by way of:
- Leadership Competencies development
- Curated, job-embedded leadership experiences linked to the competencies and the licensure “tasks”
- Networking and exposure
- Customized schedules to support aspiring leaders in and around the important work they do with students
- Licensure (e.g. MTEL, SEI Endorsement, PAL tasks, apprenticeship/mentorship)
Completing the PAL Tasks
One hurdle for many aspiring leaders is the cost of certification programs that typically involve significant investment of time and money. The SEZP has designed the EPL program as a pathway to leadership development and licensure by integrating the MA DESE PAL Tasks (Massachusetts Performance Assessment for Leaders) process, a route by which candidates can demonstrate and apply their leadership knowledge and skills by setting vision, creating a meaningful professional learning culture, supporting educator development, and engaging families. EPL candidates will receive targeted support in development and submission of PAL Tasks and may find the following resources helpful in their journey toward licensure.
